The paper discusses the effect of replacing alite in Portland clinker with the equivalent amount of belite on CO2 emissions in the clinker production process. The emission from the raw material and fuel was compared in the case of belite and alite clinkers. Methods of increasing the hydraulic activity of belite are presented. CO2 emissions were also compared for Portland and belite-sulphoaluminate clinker, containing more than 50% belite. It has been shown that increasing the belite content in Portland clinker can reduce CO2 emissions by about 10%. On the other hand, CO2 emission in the case of belite-sulphoaluminate clinker, containing 50% C2S and 30% C4A3S ̅ , is lower than this emission by about 30%.
