Roller-compacted concrete has been called the most significant advancement in dam building technology in the past 30 years. The use of RCC has gained widespread acceptance worldwide with over 750 RCC dam projects completed or under construction as of 2017. Construction of RCC dams using methods associated with earth dam construction leads to a shorter time of construction and to lower overall project costs. At the same time, high-cementitious RCC mixes provide strength equivalent to the strength of conventional mass concrete. RCC technology continues to advance with the completion of each new project.
